Volunteer roles at Methodist Senior Home Care

  1. Answer the phone
    1. Redirect/transfer calls as necessary
    2. Answer question as one is able
    3. Take messages
    4. File timesheets, case notes, and other paper work in client files

  1. Post the mail daily
    1. Drop items in mailbox
    2. Make phone calls to potential community partners
      1. Collect more information from the business/organization
      2. Follow-up with a mailing
      3. Take folders to Wesley Place and distribute to short-term residents on the second floor
      4. Print and photocopy forms for office use
      5. Send faxes to other organizations
      6. Create marketing packets for clients and community partners
        1. Assemble folders using a sample as a guide


Volunteers must ensure that all employee information is kept private and secure. They must also have availability in one hour increments (or greater) between 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday.

A nonprofit and accredited organization, Chicago Methodist Senior Services (CMSS) offers the most extensive senior services network on Chicago's north side.

CMSS sets a high standard of care and is one of Chicago's oldest and strongest nonprofit organizations dedicated to serving older adults. Incorporated in 1898, the CMSS continuum now includes rehabilitative and subacute care, skilled memory support, memory support assisted living, supportive living, home care, home maintenance, computer services and low-income housing services for seniors.

We seek to support and enhance the quality of life for older adults by empowering them to live with dignity and respect. Our years of service to Chicagoland seniors are a testament to our care and commitment to innovation and quality.
