Gilda's Club Meal Volunteers
Give back to families in West Michigan living with cancer & grief- volunteer to prepare meals at Gilda's!

Meal volunteers help with supper at Gilda's Club Grand Rapids in the following ways:

  • Meal Assistant- Assist with meal preparation & clean-up - typically volunteering from 4-7 pm
  • Meal Provider- Providing a part of a meal. (Ex- a salad, dessert, bread) for a particular day. You may drop this off anytime during the week.
  • Providing a full meal & service (Ex- A work group decides to have each employee provide a dish to make up a full meal and comes in to serve & clean-up after)
  • Provide part of a meal & service (Ex- A group or individual decides to volunteer and brings in the salad for that meal).

Supper time is such an important part of our program; it is a wonderful time for families and friends living with cancer & grief to join together for a meal at the end of a busy day and connect with one another prior to settling in to their evening support group.

We provide supper onMon-Thurs each week for the members who attend our Cancer & Grief Support Groups that evening. Supper begins at 5:15 pm and commences at 6:00 pm. Depending on the evening we have between 30-100 adults & children that attend the meal.

Mission Statement

Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids is a free cancer and grief support community of children, adults, families and friends.

Description

Gilda's Club Grand Rapids is...

Locally Based and Independent
Even though Gilda’s Club is affiliated with Gilda’s Club Worldwide, a network of 25 Clubs across North America, Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids is independently operated by a locally based Board of Directors. We are our own charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Supported 100% through Charitable Gifts
We support our free program entirely through cash donations and gifts primarily given through individuals (80%), foundation grants and corporate support (10%), and fundraising events (10%). We receive no government grants, fees for service, health care reimbursements or ongoing funds.

Sustained by Volunteer Power
While we have a core professional staff at Gilda’s Club, part of the way we are able to offer our program free of charge is through the incredible efforts of our volunteers - who donate their time in many ways to the Clubhouse and program.

Skillfully Led with a Focus on the Program
Under the leadership and guidance of the Board of Directors and our CEO, we are proud to say that 79 cents on every dollar raised goes to our program. Twelve cents of every dollar helps us raise the funds needed to support our Clubhouse and program, while the remaining nine cents goes to administration. One hundred percent of every dollar raised stays right here in West Michigan.
