This position requires a commitment of six months. The volunteer must be available Thursdays at 4:45 PM - 7:15 PM, and then must be able switch to Children’s Program Summer Hours, 2:45 PM - 5:15 PM.
SUMMARY
The Kids Club Volunteer provides general support to program staff who provide therapeutic care and curriculum-based activities for children 6-12 years old who have been impacted by Domestic Violence. This position follows the lead of the Children’s Program Manager, Child and Family Therapist, and Children’s Advocates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Promotes and models safety, healthy relationships, and positive choices
Helps to ensure the safety of all the children by way of supervision
Helps to supervise groups of children/youth of varying sizes. Supporting lead staff in guiding children in learning, practicing, and mastering developmental skills by way of determined curriculum, guided-exploration, peer-interaction, and free-play
Helps to meet the basic needs of school-aged children
Participate in games/art projects/circle time
Set up and clean-up program space throughout the night
Helps prepare and serve nutritionally sound snacks to children/youth
Assists children/youth with skill-development and implements calming techniques.
Supports the overall social, emotional, cognitive and developmental health of children as guided by lead program staff
