The Family Resource Center (FRC) at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is seeking volunteers to serve as "GetWellNetwork Ambassadors". The Get Well Network is our Interactive Patient Care system used for education, information and entertainment. The GWN Ambassador serves as a patient education advocate and coach helping families utilize learning and care management tools on the GetWellNetwork. This important role is to help patients become more engaged in their care and encourages learning. Approximately 50% of the time is spent in direct contact with families in the inpatient setting and about 50% in the Family Resource Center.
This is an ideal role for junior volunteers, students and young adults especially those with previous computer, teaching or health care experience. This is also a great role for those interested in a career as a health educator or other healthcare professional. ( must be 16 or older)
- GWN Ambassadors receive 3-4 weeks of training to learn the getwellnetwork, how to coach patients and families, and the resources available in the Family Resource Center.
- All GWN Ambassadors are first processed through CHLA Volunteer Resource office.
The minimum commitment is four (4) hours one (1) day/week. Volunteers are welcome to serve more if their schedule permits.
