Work with Youth and Families Exposed to Domestic Violence

We are looking for motivated volunteers to work with children and youth from 0 to 25 years old for our 5 support groups. We provide support groups for youth exposed to domestic violence.

There are a couple of options for volunteering at Caminar Latino-LUPE.

One of our options is our weekly sharing groups, which is the most consistent direct service we offer. For our sharing groups we ask for 3 hours every Wednesday night from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and a couple of hours for volunteer training before boarding along with 20 more hours over a 3-month period. More about our sharing groups, we are working in a hybrid schedule so you can choose to do both or one or the other. A commitment of 6 months is necessary to guarantee consistency with the youth/children we work with.

Another option is working with our family enrichment program, Vamos Juguemos, that offers a monthly activity for 15 families in our program. We have different outings over the year and require a lot of support with our families and youth.

All in all, these are our requirements:

1. Be available from 6:00-9:30 pm on Wednesday evenings.**
2. Be able to make a semester commitment(students) or a 6-month commitment.
3. Provide a criminal background check.
4. Take an immediate 2- hour Mandated Reporter training upon onboarding and other trainings over a 3-month period.

**These times reflect the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month IN-PERSON.
Times vary the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesday from 5:00pm-5:45pm or from 7:00pm-9:00pm VIA ZOOM.

Spanish language is not required but bilingual volunteers are a plus. Students or professionals with backgrounds in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology are also plus but not required.
