Cornerstone Assistance Network needs a Volunteer Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA member to serve with Readers 2 Leaders (R2L), which is located at 2223 Singleton Blvd, Suite 140, Dallas, TX.
Volunteer Position Start/End Dates:
November 4, 2014 - November 7, 2015
Pay:
$983 per month BEFORE taxes
Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours/week
The mission of R2L is to develop and grow the reading skills of children in West Dallas ages 3-10 so that they succeed in school, graduate, and leave school prepared to live productive lives. R2L tutoring sites include 5 schools in the Dallas Independent School District and 1 after-school program.
The VISTA will be responsible for coordinating volunteers, including recruiting, enrolling, training, and placing volunteers at R2L tutoring sites. The VISTA will develop/create a 3-year outreach/recruitment plan that will increase R2L's current volunteer base by 50% over the course of three years. Daily duties will include
1) Communicating with volunteers
2) Setting up and running volunteer training sessions
3) Networking in order to attract additional volunteers to the organization
4) Developing recruitment materials
5) Assigning volunteers to daily tutoring assignments for the R2L after-school program
Benefits:
Childcare assistance if eligible, Choice of End-of-Service $5,550 Education Award or $1,500 Cash Stipend upon successful service completion, Health Coverage, Living Allowance, Relocation Allowance if eligible
