Our Gallery Guides are among the first people to directly interact with our visitors, making the visit memorable. Our visitors come from all over the world (China, Japan, Australia, Canada, etc.), typically take the Boeing tour and then either before of after the tour, they walk through our gallery.

We find that our visitor reviews are significantly improved, when our visitors either take a tour or have an explainer available to answer questions. Our Guides are stationed throughout the gallery to answer questions about the exhibits.

Our Gallery Guide program needs committed volunteers who are willing to spend time training with our Special Project Manager to give tours on a regular basis in the Future of Flight Gallery. As a Guide you will represent the Future of Flight Foundation and provide a positive experience to our visitors; young and old.

We will teach you the historical and practical knowledge to give tours, demonstrate hands-on activities, and conduct a "How planes are made & fly" course (plan on about 30 hours unless you are an aviation history junky). We’ll show you the many techniques we use to keep our visitors engaged and enthusiastic during their visit to the aviation center. You will be the face of the Aviation Interpretive Center and we will ensure you are prepared for this responsibility if you commit the time to finish our training.

Shifts are available 7 days a week:
Peak -- Apr 1 to Sept 30 & Dec 26 to Jan 2 [8:30 to 6:30 p.m.]
Value -- Jan 3 to Mar 31 & Oct 1 to Dec 24 [8:30 to 5:30 p.m.]

Open year-round, except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

Hours: AM shift: 8:30-1:45 or PM shift: 1:15-5:30 p.m (note 30 minute overlap between shifts).
Guides meet 30 minutes at 8:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. at the start of their shift.
Note June, July and August we will go until 6:30 pm, with last tour at 5:00 p.m., and the gallery will mirror the hours of the Boeing tour, staying open until 6:30 pm.

Description

The Institute of Flight is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit that serves as the operator of the Future of Flight Aviation center and Boeing Tour facility, which is owned by Snohomish County.

Our role is to strengthen and deepen the visitor experience and provide hands-on STEAM related educational programs to Snohomish County students. We are able to achieve this due to the generosity of our partners, sponsors, members and donors.

The Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour debuted in Fall 2005 as a unique aviation interpretive center and the home of the Boeing Tour, their Everett WA assembly plant.

The Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour offers a remarkable opportunity to see both commercial jet production today and the direction aviation is headed in the future. The Future of Flight Aviation Center Gallery features hands-on exhibits, videos, meeting and conference space and spectacular viewing of planes from that take-off and land at Paine Field on a daily basis.
