About Move for Hunger:

Move for Hunger is a non-profit organization that works with relocation companies to strengthen the efforts of our communities food banks.

As you may be aware, many people throw out a good deal of "stuff" when they move. Unfortunately, a lot of this "stuff" is food that could be delivered to a family in need rather than thrown away. That's where we come in...

By teaming up with relocation companies across the country, Move for Hunger is creating one of the nation's largest year-round service programs. Our movers offer to pick up the unwanted, non-perishable food items from those who are moving and deliver it to their local food banks.

Position Summary:

Move for Hunger is seeking a Development Intern for the Spring of 2015. Move for Hunger’s development intern will help expand our development efforts to meet our increasing funding needs. This is an excellent internship opportunity for a college student majoring in public relations, marketing, business development or someone interested in learning all aspects of development tasks for a non-profit organization. The development intern will support the Move for Hunger team in donor research, engagement, acknowledgement, grant research, and special fundraising planning. Our development intern will leave with skills, experience, and knowledge that will make them prepared for future employment in the non-profit sector.


Required Qualifications:

  • Assists with planning and assembling of materials for special projects and events
  • Updates website content
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong Writing skills: proofreads copy for grants, proposals, awards for spelling, grammar and layout
  • Prepares interesting newsletter content
  • Assist with annual appeal
  • Strong research skills: Researches funding opportunities and organizational grant matches
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable on the phone
  • Assist with communications and reports to grant funders
  • Prefer strong knowledge of social media, especially twitter
