By sitting at the bedside in in the final hours you can provide compassionate people and calm presence to hospice patients and their family members. Volunteers will visit patients in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home or in one of our the UH Hospitals. You let us know the days and times of availability and then you are called when a need arises. Days, evenings, nights or weekends - whatever your schedule allows can make all the difference in helping hospice patients and families experience a peaceful transition. Our hospice offers opportunities in several Greater Cleveland area counties so that volunteers can serve in the county or neighborhoods most convenient to them. As little as two hours a month can make a difference and volunteers who do this find it a most rewarding privilege to be with another person in their final hours. A rare volunteer opportunity where you can give much by just "being" rather than "doing".
