Nobody longs for a safe and loving family more than a child in foster care.

As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer, you are empowered by the courts to help make this dream a reality. You will be the one consistent adult in these children's lives, vigilantly fighting for and protecting their fundamental right to be treated with the dignity and respect every child deserves. You will not only bring positive change to the lives of these vulnerable children, but also their children and generations to come. And in doing so, you will enrich your life as well.

What Do CASA Volunteers Do?

CASA volunteers listen first. Then they act.

Volunteer get to know the child by talking with everyone in that child's life: parents and relatives, foster parents, teachers, medical professionals, attorneys, social workers and others. They use the information they gather to inform judges and others of what the child needs and what will be the best permanent home for them.

Who Can Be a CASA Volunteer?

You do not have to be a lawyer or social worker to be a volunteer. We welcome people from all walks of life. We are simply looking for people who care about children and have common sense. As a volunteer, you will be thoroughly trained and well supported by professional staff to help you through each case.

Join us at an upcoming orientaion: Orientations, or call Child Advocates at (408) 573-5611.

About Child Advocates of Silicon Valley

Location:

509 Valley Way, Bldg 2, Milpitas, CA 95035, US

Mission Statement

To be there for every foster child in Silicon Valley who has experienced abuse, neglect and/or abandonment.

Description

We serve children aged birth to 21 years old who are placed in the Santa Clara County Dependency Court System (commonly referred to as foster care) for having experienced trauma in the form of abuse, neglect and/or abandonment. As an affiliate of the National Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association, we are responsible for operating the CASA program in Santa Clara County according to the national guidelines, which entails recruiting, training and supporting CASA Volunteers.

CASA Volunteers are appointed by a judge to be a mentor, advocate and a voice for a child in foster care. It can be a tough and demanding working with children in foster care but it is also very impactful. CASA Volunteers have the ability to help a child in foster care overcome the effects of having experienced trauma.
