Special People
Hospice volunteers find their purpose in helping others.

Love compels us to journey into the lives of others, offering help and friendship in times of need. The last months, weeks and days of life can be enhanced by the support and kindness of hospice volunteers. It is a vulnerable time. Often, the simple gift of time and compassion makes all the difference. If you have a big heart and a little time, you can connect with patients and their family to make a huge difference.

Mission Statement

Mission Statement Comfort Care Hospice provides supportive, holistic, comfort care to terminally ill patients and their families by implementing an individualized plan of care developed by an interdisciplinary team. Statement of Purpose: The purpose of Comfort Care Hospice is to provide palliative care to terminally ill patients and their families in their home. We seek to enhance the quality of life for the terminally ill patients as well as assisting their families through the provision of social, emotional, and bereavement support. Volunteers and Hospice: Volunteers are an integral part of the success of every hospice. They bridge gaps between the patient and family and hospice staff. The help volunteers provide encompasses compassion and friendship, which fosters trust and an atmosphere of sharing. Volunteers may provide direct and indirect patient care. Volunteers have defined roles and they are supervised by the Volunteer Coordinator.

Description

About Comfort Care Hospice

The goal of Comfort Care Hospice is to enable people with life-limiting illness to make decisions about how, and where, they want to spend the rest of their lives. Most experts agree, hospice should be considered when the patient is having increased difficulty managing serious pain or other symptoms, when their treatment is no longer working, or when treatment seems to cause more pain and discomfort than good. Hospice can also assist family members who are feeling overwhelmed by not only providing physical support but also emotional and spiritual support to both the patient and the family. For those with a terminal illness, Comfort Care provides the care necessary for physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being and is available 24 hours/7 days a week. Comfort Care Hospice services can be provided at the patient's home, in a nursing home, in an assisted living facility, or in a hospital. For more information visit comfortcarehospice.org .
