. Heartland Hospice is an organization that provides a unique type of care to patients with a terminal illness and to support their loved ones. Hospice emphasizes quality rather than length of life. Volunteers play a vital role in our organization and are rewarded with the kind of gratification that comes from helping others.
Heartland Hospice trains volunteers to spend time with hospice patients. Most time spent with hospice patients is done in the context of friendly visiting. We also welcome volunteers to help in the hospice office with answering the phones, filing, photocopying, faxing, etc.
A Bereavement volunteer works in the office with our bereavement coordinator in order to help the families of patients who have already passed. This may include tasks such as sending newletters, inputting information, and making phone calls. We are also going to try to put on a "grief camp" for families to remember their loved ones, which would be volunteer run.
We would love to have you join our team!

Mission Statement
Heartland Hospice provides quality care to patients with a limited life expectancy, as well as support to their families and caregivers. Formerly known as ProMedica Hospice, Heartland enhances the quality of life of those we serve through palliative and specialized supportive care designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patients and caregivers. Hospice care is provided by using an interdisciplinary approach in delivering care to patients--either in their own homes or extended care facilities--while working cooperatively with other health care providers and other community resources. Heartland Hospice strives to provide care to all who are eligible and need hospice care irrespective of ability to pay. Heartland is part of Gentiva Health Services.
