Heroes in Action (HIA) seeks a volunteer to serve as our Safety Coordinator. Under the leadership of the Board of Directors, the Safety Coordinator will embrace the value of helping police officers, firefighters and military veterans by helping plan, implement, and oversee safety of HIA events.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participates in the planning and implementation of safety plans
2. Recommends orders for safety supplies and equipment.
3. Ensures that all applicable safety guidelines are met.
4. Ensures that proper procedures/risk management plans are established and that volunteer, attendee and participant safety is a priority during all events.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
1. Ability to conduct walk through inspection of event sites
2. Safety system and problem area identification.
3. Writing skills
4. Responsible in carrying out a vision and working independently.

EXPERIENCE:
The Safety Coordinator is a focused individual with experience and ability to identify, mitigate or cease unsafe issues and provide training to others so these types of issues are minimized.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
Volunteer: 3-5 hours per week. Slightly higher when events are occurring.
