Medical Interpreter for Spanish Speakers: Are you working towards getting into medical school? Do you want to meet health care providers in the community, and gain valuable experience working in the healthcare field? Then this could be a good opportunity for you. You will provide an important service to uninsured, low-income patients. You will also serve as an important link between patient and medical professionals. Join our team of dedicated volunteers today! Benefits: • You will provide an important service to uninsured, low-income patients. • Be the link between patient and provider to increase understanding of medical needs. • Increase your language skills. • Gain valuable experience to add to your resume. Qualifications Sought: Flexibility Ability to work with limited supervision Respectful of patients, volunteers, and staff from diverse backgrounds and socio-economic groups Commitment to uninsured patients You must be bilingual You must pass a written and verbal Interpreter Exam with the Wallace Medical Concern WMC Training Required: HIPPA Training BBP Training Health Literacy Webinar Safety Training Timeframe: Length of commitment: minimum 6 months Estimated total hours: minimum of 2 volunteer shift per month (approx. 6 hours) Monday 6:30pm -9:30pm, Monday or Friday: 8:30am-12:30pm

The Wallace Medical Concern is a volunteer organization that provides neighborhood-based health care services and assistance to Portland-area residents who face barriers to care. Wallace has clinics in Portland and in Gresham, Oregon

WMC is a nonprofit, volunteer staffed, free health clinic for people without health insurance and money to pay for care. Through the efforts of over 300 medical volunteers and the financial support of local individuals, businesses and foundations The Wallace Medical Concern cares for nearly 6000 people a year. WMC gets them back to work, school and caring for their families.
