The American Diabetes Association is seeking volunteers for the annual Princeton Tour de Cure on Sunday June 8 th 2014. The Tour de Cure is a fundraising cycling event for riders of all experience levels. These cyclists come together for the mission of the association in support of Diabetes research, education, advocacy, our camp for children with diabetes and finding a cure.

At the American Diabetes Association we are dedicated to changing the future of diabetes by spearheading a national movement that invites people to help confront and fight diabetes. Our ultimate goal is to Stop Diabetes once and for all.

An event as large as the Princeton Tour de Cure could not happen without the dedication of hundreds of volunteers. The volunteers we need include but are not limited to; decorating, registration, cheering section, finish line personnel, greeter, lunch and breakfast duty, parking, rest stops, set up and breakdown.

The event takes place at The Educational Testing Services Campus, 660 Rosedale Road Princeton NJ, 08541. Volunteers are needed between the hours of 6am and 4:30pm. The times vary per position. For more information or to volunteer please contact: Nicole Schmidt at (732) 469-7979 ext. 3506 or by e-mail at nschmidt@diabetes.org.

The annual ride is expected to draw more than 600 participants from across the country. Designed for everyone from the novice biker to the experienced cyclist, the Tour de Cure includes routes ranging from a 10- mile Family Fun Ride to a 100-mile Century Ride.

Description

Volunteer Power
The moving force behind our work is a network of more than one million volunteers nation wide, including a membership of 430,000 diabetes patients and their families, and a professional society of more than 18,000 physicians, scientists, certified diabetes educators, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers, and educators.

In addition to our well know fund-raising events, the ADA provides learning sessions and information through a variety of community-based presentations and activities focused on reaching the diagnosed and those at high risk for diabetes. These free presentations include bi-lingual information on the importance of physical activity, making healthy food choices, food portion control and much more. Last year our outreach efforts reached several thousand people in the state of New Jersey alone. We couldn't have done this without the support from volunteers like you. Volunteering is rewarding and you can be assured that you have made a difference in someone's life.
