Join A Community of Friends (ACOF) as we host our Annual Awards Celebration, the only fundraising event that ACOF undertakes annually to support the residential services we provide to our formerly homeless tenants.
Volunteer duties are split into shifts, and many of the spaces are filled with ACOF staff. Unfortunately, as our Annual Awards Celebration increases in size, we need more volunteers than we have staff to fill the positions. We are currently looking for 7-10 volunteers to assist with the extra responsibilities. Duties include ushering guests, managing the auction tables, managing the note cards sales, assisting the check out table, and then helping to gather ACOF supplies after the event ends.

Description
Who We Are
Founded in 1988, A Community of Friends (ACOF) is a nonprofit affordable housing developer for people with special needs. Our mission is to end homelessness through the provision of quality permanent supportive housing for people with mental illness.
To date, ACOF has completed over 1,800 units in 44 properties, primarily throughout Los Angeles County, and has several properties in development. Thirty-nine (39) of the projects are currently in ACOF's portfolio in communities as diverse as Santa Monica, Pico-Union, Hollywood, Koreatown, North Hills, South Los Angeles and Boyle Heights.
Completed projects include substantial rehabilitation and new construction and range in size from 9 to 114 units. Total development costs for each project range from $600,000 to $18.6 million. ACOF secures all project financing, performs community outreach, assembles the project team and manages the project through all phases of development, construction activity and lease-up. Additionally, ACOF plays an active on-going role in the management of its properties including tenant selection, maintenance, resident manager selection and regulatory compliance.
ACOF has structured and secured over $450 million in project financing from public, private and nonprofit sources in the development of permanent supportive housing. Our staff manages all areas of affordable housing including: project development; residential services; asset management; accounting and human resources.
Our housing complexes provide a stable environment to more than 2,000 adults and several hundred children. To ensure that tenants stay housed and gain self-sufficiency, ACOF provides services either through our own staff or through collaborations with other agencies. Some of these services include money management, medication monitoring and management; health services; counseling and goal support; substance abuse recovery; and independent living skills. With the support and encouragement of on-site staff and affordable rents, tenants are provided a stable home and given opportunities to become productive members of their communities.
