Young Detroit Builders is teaming up with Christmas in Action to provide free home repairs for pre-identified, low-income and disabled senior homeowners in Detroit’s North End Neighborhood.
Christmas in Action (CIA) began in 1973 in a Sunday school classroom when Bobby Trimble challenged his Midland, Texas Sunday school class to go out and help the area’s low-income seniors who were in need of home repairs. Due to its early success, Christmas in Action quickly spread across the nation and has become an annual volunteer event in Detroit. Please join us this Saturday from 8 am until 5 pm and help Detroit seniors remain safe and independent in their own homes.
Christmas in Action is seeking volunteers with construction and home repair experience. Home repair professionals and experienced do-it-yourselfers alike are welcome. Please plan to wear sturdy shoes and come prepared to roll up your sleeves and get dirty.
Registration starts at 8 am at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church (7432 Oakland St., Detroit). For more information please contact Craig Bradley at 313- 719-4127.
