ELLI is an afterschool program in which 2 CIS Site Coordinators work with the students after they are released from school. They focus on academic support and assistance; enrichment activities; physical activity (outside play); reading time; learning stations; groups - to name a few. The overall goal of the project is to ensure students continue to succeed academically and receive the assistance needed after school.
As a volunteer, you would assist staff in helping students on assignments from school. Many of our students will benefit from homework help, tutoring, mentoring and reading/writing/math skills. We do ask for consistency from volunteers, especially service learning students. If a service learning student can offer knowledge on specific topics, such as, nutrition, sports, essay writing, etc, then they can speak with the staff to see how we can incorporate these skills into the program. All volunteers must have passed a background check prior to volunteering. Volunteer hours are between 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
