Our corps of volunteers assists with data entry projects, serves as tour guides for cemetery visitors, researches and writes biographies about those in our care, and much more. All of these efforts enable us to share the value of this National Historic Landmark site with the broadest possible audience. And, in doing so, to ensure that Woodlawn Cemetery has a community of stewards to support its future.

Mission Statement

Woodlawn Conservancy (formerly the Friends of the Woodlawn Cemetery), founded in 1999 as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is dedicated to the enjoyment and use of the cemetery by the general public, to preserving the architecturally significant structures on our property, and to protecting Woodlawn as a valuable green space by caring for the natural elements on our grounds. Our organization brings to life art and history in an extraordinary outdoor setting.

Description

The public programming and historic research executed by Woodlawn relies heavily on the generous donation of time and energy by volunteers. With Woodlawn’s 150 Anniversary on the horizon, a dedicated corps of volunteers is more important than ever.
