Help out at the Falafel 5K race for the Literacy Council

The Literacy Council is currently in need of volunteers who can help out at the Falafel 5K race on Sunday, May 4.

This is the first year that the Literacy Council has partnered with the Falafel 5K race. In exchange for the opportunity to have our literature be part of the runners' packets, as well as receiving a portion of the ticket price for anyone who registers for this race using our promotion code (LitCouncil), we have agreed to recruit ten volunteers for this race. Those who agree to volunteer can choose to participate in one of the following three tasks:

-On Friday evening at the Jewish Community Center, helping to stuff envelopes
-On Sunday, from roughly 8-10, registering runners
OR
-On Sunday, from roughly 9:30-11, passing out water to runners during the race.

All volunteers will receive a free falafel

Description

Literacy Together (formerly The Literacy Council of Buncombe County) was created in 1986 as a merger of two leading adult literacy organizations - Altrusa of Asheville and the Asheville-Buncombe Literacy Council. Since our beginning 35 years ago, we have continued to grow programming and expand our reach to meet the literacy and English language needs of people of all ages in Buncombe County.
