Colorado Youth for a Change Futures Academy is moving to it's own site! Futures Academy serves students ages 17 to 21, who have too few credits to receive a traditional high school diploma, but are still interested in furthering their education and pursuing a post-secondary degree.
On June 21, 2014 Futures Academy will move from the Pickens Technical College site to their own location. We are looking for a group for a volunteers who can help pack, load and unload boxes/items, and do some light cleaning. It will be an eight hour day.

The mission of Colorado Youth for a Change (CYC) is to solve Colorado’s dropout crisis.
Description
Founded in 2005 in response to over 18,000 youth dropping out of Colorado schools each year, CYC works each and every day to solve the dropout crisis. We partner with school districts across the state supporting 1000's of struggling students each year.
Large bodies of research show that the lack of a high school diploma or GED considerably lowers a person’s employability and economic security throughout their lifetime and results in poorer overall health, unstable housing conditions, increased exposure to violence, and higher rates of poverty. In addition, data shows that one person who drops out will cost taxpayers $292,000 over their lifetime. Because even one student who drops out is too many, we are committed to improving the dropout rate through thoughtful community partnerships, dropout outreach & reengagement programs, expansion of school options and educational intervention programs.
