  • 11 people are interested

Are you a military veteran or active service member who would like to give back to other military veterans in your community who are hospice patients? Help honor veterans near you by becoming a hospice volunteer.

Medi Hospice is searching for veterans of the armed services. As a veteran volunteer you can visit our patients who are military vets themselves. Veteran volunteers can offer companionship, support, and friendship to a veteran at the end of his or her life by visiting one to four hours per week. You have the opportunity to provide support and care in a special way that only former military personnel may be able to provide. Discuss past experiences, watch television, play games, or go for walks with one of our patients to help them live more fully.

A comprehensive training program will be provided to all volunteers as a way to help new volunteers feel more comfortable with the end of life process. Veteran volunteers will receive additional information on how to potentially relate to and honor veteran patients. Please contact Travis Kennedy, Volunteer Coordinator, at (804) 282-4301 or by e-mail at tkennedy@msa-corp.com.
