Camp Noah is searching for Team Leaders for day camps in Central Oklahoma to serve children impacted by the May 2013 storms. The Camp Noah Team Leader will work with a Camp Noah--LSSMN Program Manager and will recruit 15-25 team members, ensure that each team member is trained and equipped to serve in their assigned role at Camp Noah, make travel arrangements for the team, fundraise, collaborate with the Site Coordinator to direct the camp week, and lead the team to facilitate the curriculum.
Recruit Team
The Team Leader will recruit a team of 15-25 members to serve as camp staff. Composition of the team is up to the Team Leader. Team members must be at least sixteen years of age (maximum of 5 team members under 18 on each team), register online with Camp Noah, pass a background check, and earn certification through the Camp Noah training program. Suggestions and information about who makes an ideal team member will be available in the Team Leader Guide. Team Leaders will ultimately be held responsible for those they’ve selected to be on their team and are encouraged to interview and select their team carefully.
Coordinate Team Training & Assign Roles
All team members are required to be trained/certified by Camp Noah--LSSMN before they can serve as Camp Staff.
1. The Team Leader will be asked to ensure that all team members and pay the training/certification fee of $225. (This information is submitted online but a Team Leader may be asked to help team members with the process.)
2. The Team Leader need to ensure that all team members complete the online training.
3. The Team Leader will host a minimum of two in-person training/meetings with their team before camp begins.
4. The Team Leader will be responsible to assign roles for team members at camp based on the gifts and talents of each team member and the needs of the team.
Travel/Logistics
The Team Leader will coordinate travel arrangements for team members. Teams are responsible for travel to and from the camp site, evening meals (Monday-Friday). The Team Leader will have conversations with the Site Coordinator about arrival times, housing needs, and other in-community arrangements.
Fundraising
The Team Leader may be asked to assist team members in fundraising for their training/certification fee of $225 payable to Camp Noah--LSSMN, as well as any costs associated with team travel and evening meals.
Collaborate with Site Coordinator
Leading up to camp, the Team Leader will be asked to communicate regularly with the Site Coordinator about camp details, travel plans, logistics, and community specific information. During camp the Team Leader and Site Coordinator will co-lead the camp based on the job descriptions given, the established working relationship, and the needs of the community/children.
Facilitate the Curriculum
The Team Leader is responsible to ensure that the Camp Noah curriculum is appropriately used in its entirety. The Team Leader is also responsible to make sure camp staff are following through on their individual roles, campers are safe and secure, and all participants are accepted and validated.
Debriefing, Reporting, and Evaluation
During camp the Team Leader will be asked to lead a daily debriefing session and complete a Team Leader Report on each day/session.
After camp is complete, the Team Leader will be asked to ensure that team members fill out an evaluation of their experience at camp.
Criteria
• Must be over 18 years old.
• Must be willing to carry out the responsibilities detailed in the position description.
• Flexible.
• Must apply to Camp Noah--LSSMN and be able to sign the Camp Noah Team Leader Agreement.
Support
Camp Noah--LSSMN recognizes the tremendous amount of commitment, leadership, and time that is necessary to be a successful Team Leader. The Team Leader will be paid a stipend of $1500.
A Camp Noah Program Manager will be assigned to support, coach, and encourage Team Leaders as they navigate the responsibilities of team leadership. Team Leaders will receive resources to assist them in recruiting and training their team, fundraising, working with a Site Coordinator, and facilitating the curriculum.
