Position Summary: Theory Greeters welcome visitors and provide them with friendly and helpful service as they enter OMSI’s restaurant. Shifts are available each day of the week from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet visitors and welcome them to Theory.
• Assist visitors in understanding the layout of the restaurant.
• Provide menu and explain options at the different stations.
• Introduce visitors to any demos occurring at the food science demo cart.
• Provide accurate information about food events happening in Theory and, when appropriate, throughout the museum.
• Direct customer inquiries and feedback to the appropriate channels.
• Ensure that visitors entering the museum from the patio have appropriate tickets/stamps.

• Thank visitors on their exit from Theory and invite them to return again.

Qualifications:

• Currently seeking volunteers at least 18 years of age.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Outgoing personality.
• Able to speak in public and respond with accuracy to customer inquiries.
• Able to maintain a calm, pleasant, and cheerful demeanor in a variety of atmospheres.
• Able to communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and age levels.
• Must present a professional appearance
• Dependable and punctual.
• Self-directed and willing to take initiative.
• Willing to follow OMSI rules and procedures.
