The Take Me There: China gallery at The Children’s Museum is looking for volunteers! Volunteers will help facilitate the immersive programming throughout the Take Me There: China gallery. Volunteers will help create the immersive experience by pretending, along with guests, that they are in China. They will be cast as tourists, students, researchers, or somebody who lives up the street. Preference will be given to those applicants who can Make a commitment of at least two hours a week, Have the ability to engage and interact with all visitors, regardless of age or group size, Have general knowledge about The Children’s Museum, Can maintain order, safety, and cleanliness in the gallery Have interest in cultures and traditions from around the world, especially China, and Most importantly, have a desire to have fun! Volunteer Activities include: Introducing guests to Chinese calligraphy and characters using authentic brushes, Playing guests in a variety of Chinese games including Chinese chess, Chinese yo-yos, Chinese checkers, jianzi, Tai chi ball, among others, Recruiting guests to learn about pandas and their importance to the Chinese people, Inviting guests to play traditional Chinese percussion or stringed instruments, or Encouraging guests to smell different types of tea.

Visitors can explore the physical and natural sciences, history, world cultures, the arts, see how dinosaurs lived 65 million years ago in Dinosphere: Now You're in Their World, experience Dale Chihuly's Fireworks of Glass and examine children's impact in shaping history in The Power of Children: Making a Difference. The Children's Museum, situated on 20 acres of land in Indianapolis, presents hundreds of programs and activities each year.
