D.C. Law Students in Court (LSIC) seeks volunteers to help prepare and staff our 2014 Celebration of Service Reception on Wednesday, May 14. The event will take place on the terrace of Miller & Chevalier LLP (overlooking the White House).
LSIC provides free, high quality legal assistance to low-income Washington, D.C. residents who are unable to afford a lawyer, trains third-year law students in lawyering and courtroom advocacy skills, helps the courts with the administration of cases by providing assistance and representation to indigent persons.
At this year’s reception, we will honor two individuals for their dedication toLSIC's mission of providing free, high quality legal representation, assistance, and counseling to low-income persons in the District of Columbia.
You’ll be a part of making this wonderful and historic event happen. The following positions are available:
- Registration Assistant
- Photographer
- Viodeographer
- Reporter
- Usher
- Social Media Assistant
This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in event planning and event management. Great networking opportunity for anyone who is interested in working in the legal industry. Mission Statement
Our mission is to ensure justice for Washington’s low-income community through free, high-quality legal assistance while training third-year law students in lawyering and courtroom advocacy skills.
Description
Law Students in Court is celebrating 45 years as a dynamic force for justice in the District. We will host our annual Celebration of Service Reception on April 10th, 2013 at the Carnegie Institution of Washington. We are looking for volunteers to help carry out the logistics of the reception.
This year’s Celebration of Service Award will be presented to Susan M. Hoffman, partner at Crowell & Moring LLP, to honor her extraordinary contributions to pro bono work in the DC community. Susie’s been described as the "Godmother of law firm pro bono in the District," leading the call to service and encouraging a pro bono culture within the DC bar. Throughout her career, Susie has dedicated her time, expertise and energy to filling the legal needs of DC’s low income community.
