Cedar Valley Friends of the Family is in need of volunteers who are passionate about advocating for the safety of victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault in the Cedar Rapids area by helping to provide emergency shelter and housing options. Volunteers would assist Cedar Valley Friends of the Family's Cedar Rapids office in meeting client needs by completing intakes, providing in-town transportation, and offering support and advocacy to clients. Volunteers could be of service during day or evening hours. A 30-hour training is required of volunteers interested in working directly with clients. Those who complete this training will then be certified Victim Counselors in the state of Iowa. This is a great opportunity for those looking to gain experience in domestic violence and/or sexual assault services and anyone who wants to help Cedar Valley Friends of the Family with its mission to end violence and homelessness.
