Great Lakes Science Center is offering an opportunity for teens to be a part of the Customer Service Team for the upcoming exhibitionLEGO Travel Adventure, May 24 - September 7, 2014. This opportunity will give students a chance to help develop quality customer service skills and communication.
Teen Customer Service Leadership
This volunteer creates a warm and welcoming impression to guests visiting Great Lakes Science Center and LEGO Travel Adventure. The volunteer will communicate exhibition rules, direct guest to the exhibition entrance. The volunteer will also assist guests to answer questions about the exhibition, and Great Lakes Science Center. Volunteers may also assist guests exiting the exhibition with wayfinding.
Requirements: Candidates must have completed their freshman year of high school and be at least 15 years of age. Volunteer must make a minimum commitment of 12 hours per week June through August (120 hours). All candidates must attend three weekend training sessions, May 31, June 14 and June 21. Good candidates are reliable, responsible, professional, work well in teams and have excellent communication skills. Candidates will be expected to learn information on GLSC programs, pricing and be able to answer basic questions about the Science Center.
Teens interested in applying to be a part of the Customer Service Team must complete the volunteer application no later than May 15, 2014. Volunteer applications can be completed online at our website www.GreatScience.com . Each applicant will be required to write a brief essay after their completed application is received.

Volunteers are an integral part of our workshops, science shows, special events and the overall welcoming atmosphere of fun and curiosity cultivated by the Science Center. Volunteers assist our guest engagement staff, man our information desk, lead tours aboard the historic Steamship William G. Mather and so much more. Our Volunteers enjoy bringing our exhibits to life with additional information and new ways to interact with and learn from them. Creating amazing stories for our visitors through answering questions, one-on-one interaction, and mind-blowing science demonstrations ensures that both the volunteer's, and the guest's, experience is a memorable one.
