Harlem RBI, an award winning youth development program, is seeking volunteers to serve as group assistants at our summer program for students in grades 2-5. Harlem RBI's summer elementary program provides youth with a full day of educational, enrichment, and baseball activities, designed to foster a positive learning environment and prevent summer learning loss. Summer program group assistants provide support to program staff during lunch, enrichment games and outdoor activities. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development, has experience in education-based and/or recreation program(s), and has the ability and desire to engage elementary school youth.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work with program staff to coordinate, organize and facilitate group games and activities;
- Assist during lunchtime supervision;
- Serve as a positive role model;
- Provide individualized attention to participants;
- Celebrate success and progress of youth.
Qualifications
- Enjoy working with elementary school youth;
- Possess creativity, enthusiasm and patience;
- Have previous experience in education-based and/or recreation program(s) (a plus);
- Have the ability and desire to engage youth in a low-income, urban community;
- Are willing to be coached and give and receive feedback;
- Enjoy working as part of a team;
- Are at least 16 years of age;
- We require a commitment from July 2 nd to August 15 th.
Hours: At least 4 hours per week (2-hour sessions, two days per week). Monday-Thursday, 12:00-5:00pm.

Description
DREAM serves over 2200 East Harlem and South Bronx youth by providing free, high-quality summer and afterschool programs to youth ages 6-21 years in an intensive multi-year commitment that connects youth and families to age-appropriate programs and passionate professional staff over time.
All DREAM youth play on a baseball or softball team and participate in a full range of education and youth development programs designed to build the skills and confidence necessary to succeed as healthy and active adults.
