ORGANIZATION: La Senora Research Institute

Entrance to Mojica Hacienda

La Senora's busy summer season needs a variety of volunteer assistance. Are you good at designing flyers? Would you like to be trained to guide people around the historic botanical gardens (gardens are open to public attending scheduled events.) Could you provide clerical assistance several hours a week?

What skill do you have that you could bring to a non profit cultural heritage organization producing chamber music concerts, historic lectures and screening classic films. Let us know.

Mission Statement

Purpose: The La Senora Research Center, located on the 1839 Mexican Land Grant - Rancho Boca de Santa Monica, has as its primary focus California's Rancho Era dating from 1750's to early 1900's.

We provide an overview of the California Rancho history under Spain, Mexico and the U.S. then narrow into the context of this Rancho's surrounding communities (currently known as Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades,Malibu and Topanga)

From 1767 - 1930 we address the cultural influences of the areas broader geographical environments. In 1929 our research narrows to the history of the Hacienda de Jose Mojica (aka La Finca de Nuestra La Senora de Guadalupe) following the chain of its inhabitants, from Jose Mojica - through its colorful "Old Hollywood" owners..
