Neighbors, Inc. is a blue ribbon service enterprise, nationally recognized for its success in engaging volunteers to meet its mission. We are 100% volunteer driven and staff guided. With over 1400 volunteers, our unique grassroots service model has helped people over 78,000 times last year with food, clothing, rides to medical appointments, daily check in phone calls, and more.

Position Overview
Help us innovate! The AmeriCorps*VISTA talent engagement coordinator will support Neighbors through exciting new initiatives. Assist with engaging new volunteers from diverse populations, developing meaningful volunteer opportunities, and creating ways to recognize the good deeds of our volunteers. Feel good about your work, serve in a highly social and supportive team focused on getting people-in-need back on their feet, and see the direct positive impact volunteers have on the people we help.


Key Activities
- Expand volunteer recruitment efforts to diverse populations through a community wide engagement campaign
- Coordinate the "Get to Know Your Neighbors" open house for new volunteers to learn about ways to get involved
- Develop service learning projects for a variety of churches, schools, businesses and community groups seeking short term volunteer opportunities
- Host continuing education workshops for volunteers and staff on topics related to service at Neighbors
- Provide recognition to volunteers through a volunteer leadership ladder, appreciation events, spotlight articles, and public access television partnership


The ideal candidate will be
- A strong communicator - able to communicate with a diverse group of stakeholders
- A collaborative leader - able to facilitate teams of volunteers
- An effective organizer - able to manage time efficiently and handle lots of details

AMERICORPS VISTA Members Receive

- Living allowance of $983 monthly. By agreeing to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA you are acknowledging the decision to live at the poverty level. Please be sure that this fits your current situation before you apply to this position.
- Choice of a one-time end of service $5,550 educational award or $1,500 stipend
- Health care benefits
- Relocation expenses
- Student loan forbearance or deferment
- Potential child care assistance
- Training in AmeriCorps VISTA Service and volunteer leadership


Supervision
This position reports to the Director of Volunteer Programs.
