We are looking for dedicated college and university students and other volunteers to become Instructional Fellows to support our teachers and work with our students. Western Instructional Fellows will have opportunities to work our students, teach small groups, and support teachers and staff with clerical and academic tasks.
Western School of Science and Technology: A Challenge Foundation Academy (Western: CFA) is a new tuition-free college preparatory public middle and high charter school opening in August 2014 to serve 200 students in grades 7-9 in the Maryvale neighborhood of west Phoenix.
Western Instructional Fellows will benefit from professional development sessions, teacher mentorships, and classroom experience, and may receive hours for internship or practicum programs.
Education majors, prospective educators, and others with a passion for children and learning are encouraged to apply.

Western School of Science and Technology: A Challenge Foundation Academy (Western: CFA) proposes to become a blended learning STEM public charter middle and high school serving the Maryvale neighborhood of Phoenix, Arizona.
Western School of Science and Technology: A Challenge Foundation Academy exists to transform Maryvale by improving low-income west Phoenix students’ opportunities for advancement in the global technological economy by providing needed preparation for the academic rigors of college graduation leading to career success.
WSST: CFA will sustainably address the educational and economic needs of Arizona’s Latino youth. When the school is successful, it provides a proof point in the Maryvale neighborhood that low-income underserved youth can access the educational skills necessary to be successful in the new economy, be prepared for college persistence and graduation, and become integral parts of Arizona’s new global economy.
WSST: CFA aims to be the first A high school in the Maryvale neighborhood.
