About Memphis Habitat ReStore
Location:

Mission Statement
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis, a nonprofit ecumenical Christian housing ministry, is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing from the city of Memphis and surrounding areas, while making decent housing for all people a matter of conscience and action.
Description
Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Habitat works in partnership with families in need of adequate shelter to build simple, decent, affordable homes. The homes are then sold to Habitat's partner families, at no profit and with no interest charged. Partner families invest hundreds of hours of their own labor -- sweat equity -- into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving "Fund for Humanity" that is used to build more homes.
The purpose of the ReStore is to divert usable materials out of landfills, offer a fun and unique volunteer experience for individuals and groups, and (most importantly) serve as a funding source to help support Habitat’s mission of eliminating poverty housing in Memphis. All proceeds from the store directly benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis and our house-building program.
