Looking for adults who are 55 plus. Work with a co-mediator under the supervision of agency staff and offer disputants a respectful, structured, yet informal process that provides a safe place for airing concerns, needs and demands, while listening to the opposing party and working together to reach a solution all parties can live with. The volunteer uses the skills learned in the training to facilitate the discussion but does not offer advice or suggest the solution. The goal of the mediator is to follow the process, remain neutral and respectful. The outcome is up to the parties. Mediation is a success when the mediators follow the principles of mediation and operate with integrity whether or not the parties reach agreement. A 34-hour basic mediation course for residents of MetroWest interested in becoming volunteer mediators in the District Courts of Framingham, Natick, Concord and Marlborough. To be eligible for this training, volunteers will need to commit to serving in court for at least a year a few hours a month. Next training fall '15 or winter '16. There is a $400 Training fee.
