The Mobile CPR Project

We are looking for eager, public-health minded volunteers willing to assist with CPR trainings, publicity, and community engagement. Volunteers do not need to be CPR certified. We typically train two to three groups a week, and volunteers will be able to pick which training dates and locations work best for them. We welcome all volunteers, especially bilingual applicants.

The Mobile CPR Project (themobilecprproject.com) is a public health initiative that seeks to educate as many Hartford (CT) citizens as possible in CPR, free of charge. We work with and host trainings in shelters, public schools, magnet schools, religious organizations, and other community groups. We travel to the organization in our Mobile CPR van, bring all of the necessary presentation materials, and provide small anytime-CPR kits that participants can bring home with them and show to their families or use to practice their skills later on. The overall goal of the initiative is to bring vital, life-saving training to those who otherwise would have a difficult time acquiring the training on their own.

About The Mobile CPR Project

Location:

Mission Statement

The Mobile CPR Project was created to increase survival from sudden cardiac arrest. To do this we travel to community organizations, such as schools, shelters, and churches and teach CPR. This program is an initiative supported by the City of Hartford and other partners including three local hospitals, the fire department and the police department.

Description

CPR training usually costs money and can take up a lot of time. It can also be difficult to find someone that teaches CPR. Our mission is to bring CPR to the Hartford community at no cost. So how do you learn CPR? Contact us! We can schedule a training for you. We only ask that we have more than 10 people per training. This way, we train as many people as we can at once.

Our number one goal is to train you to recognize a cardiac arrest and to learn CPR. Learning CPR can keep you and your family safe. Most of the time when someone experiences a cardiac arrest, it is in their home. If your family member experiences a cardiac arrest the best thing you can do is perform CPR, it can save their life!

Cardiac arrest is when the heart suddenly stops beating. This is different from a heart attack. Cardiac arrest can strike anyone at any time and most of the time it is fatal. As scary as this is, the best way to keep someone alive when their heart stops beating is to do CPR. A new form of CPR called Hands-Only CPR teaches people to do compressions without rescue breathing. This means you are no longer required to breathe for a victim, just use your hands to keep their heart pumping.
