Join the Accokeek Foundation on the 1st Saturday of every month, from 10 am to 1 pm, to get your hands dirty volunteering around site.
This month, we’ll be working on preparing the fields on the Ecosystem Farm for the season and re-installing the river irrigation pump.
This is a great opportunity for individuals or groups/families to give back to the community on a Saturday morning while enjoying the beauty of Piscataway Park.
If you are interested in attending a Service Saturday event, please RSVP to the volunteer coordinator at volunteers@accokeek.org.

Mission Statement
According to the Foundation's 1957 charter, "It shall be the purpose of this Corporation to preserve, protect and foster, for scientific, educational or charitable use and study for the benefit of the people of the nation, the historical sites and relics, trees, plants, and wildlife rapidly disappearing from an area of great natural beauty along the Maryland shore of the historic Potomac River."
Description
In partnership with the National Park Service, the Accokeek Foundation stewards 200 acres of Piscataway Park. Situated directly across the Potomac River from George Washington’s Mount Vernon, this land was protected to preserve historic views and now serves as an outdoor classroom for educational programs about land conservation, historic preservation, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship. Entertaining tours and performances, customized experience based activities, and service learning opportunities help visitors connect to the land and to one another.
