Family Literacy

Visit a refugee/immigrant family in their home to help them expand their English literacy! By learning to read and write English, refugees can more easily find employment, help their children succeed in school, and most importantly achieve self-sufficiency.

Refugee Family Services (RFS) provides orientation, training and resources. Volunteers support the family's journey to self-sufficiency resulting in a unique relationship. Visits are scheduled at the convenience of the volunteer and family and can be arranged in the evenings or on weekends.

Volunteers are required to commit to 1-2 hours per week with the family for at least 3 months. This unique opportunity fosters a great relationship. Volunteer/family matches generally exceeds the 3 month commitment.
