This AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate position will support Reading Corps, a volunteer-based reading program that assists children in PreK and elementary school with reading, writing, and literacy development. Beyond developing reading skills, this program seeks to instill a love of reading and literature in children.
Duties include: Daily, direct service to students ages PreK-4 to grade three to work on reading, writing, and oral language development; Attend weekly staff meetings; Work collaboratively with current VISTAs to develop and improve the Reading Corps program; Have fun while getting involved in your local community!
AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associates will work full-time and earn a monthly stipend of $946. At the completion of the position, Summer Associates can choose to receive either an end-of-service stipend or an education award of $1,192. All Summer Associates will be recognized for their service at an end-of-summer celebration at the Texas Ranger’s Ballpark Stadium.
