Help us plan our big annual Ghent Summer Bar Tour, a charity pub crawl in the Ghent Business District to raise money for Hope House Foundation, a locally based charity that provides supported living services to adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities exclusively in their own homes or apartments. The event planning team, led by the Event Coordinator, handles event sponsorship, participating locations, and games/prizes for each event. On the day of the event, planning team members work with the Event Coordinator to make sure that the event runs smoothly. We have a variety of roles that need to be filled, both big and small (details below). Leadership opportunities are available. Meetings are approximately every other week with action items to follow up on in-between. No prior experience is required, just a desire to help out a good cause!

Registration Lead: This volunteer is organized, works well with logistics, and is responsible for getting event registration bags prepared and delivered to the event site.

Volunteer Lead(s): This volunteer can work well with a variety of people and is responsible for all volunteers helping at the event.

Entertainment Lead: This team member is responsible for "bringing out the party" at the event, ensuring that participants enjoy themselves and want to come back in the future.

Marketing Lead: This team member is an outgoing person with a lively personality who is responsible for all promotion of the event to potential participants.

At-Large Member(s): This team member does not have a specific role but is responsible for completing miscellaneous tasks not specifically assigned to other team members and for helping out other team members or filling in for other team members as needs arise.

Mission Statement

Ghent Bar Tours seeks to raise regional awareness of local neighborhood communities and businesses through the promotion of organized local events that benefit local charities. We have always held and still maintain three distinct objectives:

  1. To get people of all ages 21 and over out for a great night of fun.
  2. To support the local businesses, particularly the restaurants and bars, and help gain them exposure to new patrons in the region.
  3. To raise money for a good cause.

Description

We need fun and enthusiastic volunteers who are 21 years of age or older to help out during our events with registering participants, facilitating games at bars, and distributing prizes. For those who wish to be involved a little bit more, we also need volunteers to serve on our event planning teams, which coordinate with participating locations, sponsors, donors, and others to help host a successful event and raise some much-needed funds for local charities.
