Purpose:
Help reconnect families separated internationally by war, disaster and migration through providing case management support at the national headquarters office
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a strong understanding of the Restoring Family Links program, refugee and migrant populations and the humanitarian situations that create family separations
- Conduct casework by analyzing new cases and making recommendations, providing case information and guidance to local Red Cross caseworkers and tracking case activity in the client database
- Conduct internet research to search for missing family members in the United States
- Support local service delivery by providing information and guidance on Restoring Family Links services to Red Cross caseworkers in the chapter network
Qualifications:
- Area of study or proven interest in services to refugee populations, social service programming, or other relevant focus area
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, good time management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills strong
- Excellent computer skills including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet navigation/research; experience with case management databases is a plus
Length of Appointment: Flexible with a minumum commitment of 8 weeks
Time Commitment: Flexible; 16-40 hours per week preferred

This position offers the opportunity to develop an array of professional skills and knowledge including acquiring a better understanding of refugee and migrant communities and the humanitarian circumstance that cause separation; learning about the Red Cross role in reconnecting families and the impact of such services; development of skills in case analysis and decision making, utilization of case management systems, time management and working in a team environment. In addition, the team member is able to contribute meaningfully to a program which serves families who have been internationally separated due to crisis, conflict, migration and/or disaster.

Description
The national headquarters of the American Red Cross provides assistance with shaping and leading the organization in our mission and strategic plan. National Headquarters also assists with technical guidance to the many Red Cross units, such as Chapters, Armed Forces Emergency Services Stations and Blood Services regions. These units are responsible for the direct service to the community including disaster response and preparedness, messaging to Armed Forces military and their families, collecting and delivering blood products, teaching health and safety skills and helping reunite families through our international services.
