Our pet therapy program is a win/win for our patients, our volunteers and their therapy animals. Our volunteers and their therapy animals visit patients in nursing homes and other facilities throughout southeastern Michigan. We see such a difference in our patients when therapy animals visit, providing comfort and a sense of well-being to our patients.
If you would be interested in becoming a volunteer along with your pet, please contact ProMedica Hospice's Volunteer Coordinator. ProMedica Hospice is dedicated to providing the best end of life care possible to our patients.
Volunteers must be at least 18-years-old to visit patients. ProMedica requires all volunteers to get the annual flu shot. Every volunteer, while visiting patients, must wear the surgical mask ProMedica provides. Those who do not have the COVID vaccine must wear an N95 mask and face shield (provided by ProMedica for free) and get COVID tested twice weekly. Volunteers must complete two TB skin tests (available for free in the ProMedica office), a drug screening and a fingerprint background check (all paid for by ProMedica). ProMedica provides extensive training to ensure volunteers are fully prepared for their work.

About Heartland Hospice (formerly ProMedica)
Location:
1390 Eisenhower Place, Ann Arbor, MI 48108, US
Mission Statement
Heartland Hospice provides quality care to patients with a limited life expectancy, as well as support to their families and caregivers. Formerly known as ProMedica Hospice, Heartland enhances the quality of life of those we serve through palliative and specialized supportive care designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patients and caregivers. Hospice care is provided by using an interdisciplinary approach in delivering care to patients--either in their own homes or extended care facilities--while working cooperatively with other health care providers and other community resources. Heartland Hospice strives to provide care to all who are eligible and need hospice care irrespective of ability to pay. Heartland is part of Gentiva Health Services.
