ORGANIZATION: VIP Managers Corps, a Program of 501 Commons

Serve as a Volunteer Manager Corps Member in the VIP Manager Corps

United Negro College Fund (UNCF) seeks a skilled individual to join as a Volunteer Manager Corps (VMC) Member in a unique role. Volunteers will work with UNCF to develop and implement specific tools, systems, and processes that will enhance its volunteer engagement efforts and community impact.

UNCF lives up to the motto--"A mind is a terrible thing to waste"--by enabling more than 60,000 students each year to attend college and get the education they need and the nation needs them to have. UNCF serves as a national advocate for the importance of education and college readiness with the idea that every student needs and deserves a pre-college education that prepares them for college coursework and college success.

Apply to serve as a VMC Member for UNCF through United Way’s VIP Manager Corps, a United Way program in partnership with 501 Commons that helps King County human service organizations develop and sustain effective volunteer engagement programs and practices.

Volunteers will serve 300 hours over 8 months starting in April 2014. VMC Members are expected to serve 10 hours per week during the 9-5 workday which includes regular check-in meetings and group trainings.

In return for their service, volunteers will receive:

  • an $800 United Way of King County service award
  • training in volunteer management best practices
  • valuable experience working with a nonprofit
  • the opportunity to serve in collaboration with a community of peers
  • recognition for helping to increase an organization's capacity to deliver services

We are seeking a candidate with strong people skills, leadership experience, and a commitment to service. A background in volunteer management or human resources is desirable, but not necessary, as some training will be provided.
