STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.
The Library is seeking volunteer help promoting and mentoring STEAM skills to local youths.
This program which has been running at the library since 2014 has been inactive during library construction. It will relaunch with and all new dedicated space where volunteer mentors can guide teens as they explore robotics, crafts, 3D printing and more.
This article from MAKEZINE.com gives a good overview of the program and it's goals.
The STEAM mentors, both seasoned and new, are meeting over the next few months to plan exciting new activities. You can get in on the planning stages.
Level of commitment? You decide. Get involved in the relaunch meetings (about 1 per month), be a long-term mentor (2 hours per week), and/or a one-time special skills program presenter (1 to 4 weeks/2 hours per week).
