ORGANIZATION: Communities In Schools of Tacoma

It’s no surprise that most non-profits rely upon the generosity of corporate and private donors through grant funding. Communities in Schools of Tacoma is looking for excellent communicators who are interested in improving their professional writing skills as volunteer grant-writers. Grant writers: -Will be working with and learning from a professional committee. -Will increase their professional networks with individuals who are connected to non-profits. -Can work remotely (at home or anywhere with Word and an Internet connection). -Will be gaining valuable experience to add to a resume. -Will have access to ready-made templates and needed information to complete grants. -Can practice their professional writing, proof-reading, and editing skills. -Will be working towards a greater cause by applying for funding for educational and early childhood literacy programs. This is a rewarding opportunity for a college or graduate student interested in liberal arts or business including; English, journalism, communications and professional writing or for anyone who would like to work for a non-profit in the future. Communities In Schools is part of the 5th largest youth development organization in the country. We are the only ones proven to increase graduation rates AND decrease dropout rates.

We serve as the bridge between the student and the community, bringing in resources that help break down the barriers that students have to be successful in school.
