The Senior Companion Program (SCP) provides volunteer opportunities for seniors 55 or older and income eligible to earn a small tax-free stipend that will not affect any government benefits currently receiving while providing companionship to frail elderly individuals who may be homebound or isolated and who need the assistance and support of a senior companion. Typical services include light meal preparation, assisting with communications, referrals to community support services, socialization and reminiscing, assisting with light housework or chores. The SCP also provides respite care to full-time family caregivers in need of a much-needed break. Volunteers needed in Montgomery, Miami, Greene, Preble and Clark counties.

Service Opportunities for Seniors to other seniors
The Senior Companion Program enables people age 55 and older to provide assistance and friendship to home-bound adults. Senior Companions serve frail older adults and their caregivers, adults with disabilities, and those with terminal illnesses. Senior Companions usually serve two to four clients on a weekly basis and serve 15-30 hours a week. If you are interested in being a Senior Companion, you must meet age and income eligibility requirements. You will receive a tax-free stipend to offset the cost of volunteering that will not effect your benefits. Other compensations include reimbursement for transportation, meals, an annual physical, and accident and liability insurance while on duty. You must pass background checks (FBI, State of Ohio and Sexual Predator). Pre-service and monthly training sessions required.
