Caring and compassionate volunteers needed as companions for individuals receiving hospice services at home.

Anam Cara’s Hospice Volunteer Registry Service trains and mentors volunteers to provide companionship and emotional support to hospice patients while giving caregivers a needed break. Our volunteers are a valuable part of the hospice care team and help provide terminally ill people with a compassionate, dignified end-of-life experience. Volunteer shifts are typically 2 to 3 hours once a week.

All Registry volunteers complete an intensive 16-hour course that adheres to Medicare and NHPCO guidelines. These trainings are held once each quarter over the course of a weekend.

Before being matched with a family, volunteers also must pass a background check and TB screening and shadow a mentor during patient visits. Additional education and support is provided as needed and at Hospice Volunteer Community Potlucks, held the third Thursday of each month from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
