The A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club is looking for individuals to serve as volunteer cheer coaches for members who participate in the cheerleading division of the A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club Football Athletics Program at the Dr. Kirkwood R. Balton Unit (formerly South Park Unit). We are currently seeking to fill at least three (3) coaching positions with the ideal volunteers having teaching/coaching experience in cheer, dance or majorette performance. A firm understanding of the fundamentals of cheerleading fitness, wellness and safety are a must. Participation on a secondary school-affiliated squad (high school or college) is acceptable in lieu of coaching experience. Volunteers would need to be available to coach at least 2 weekday after-school sessions per week and attend at least eight (8) Saturday home and away games during the regular football season, with the play-off potential in late Fall. In addition to possessing a professional coaching demeanor, volunteers must be willing to work in a team-environment with extensive collaboration between the Unit Director, Cheer Administrator, Director of Outreach and other parent-volunteers. Additional duties may include schedule and registrant management, on-site instruction, safety, and positive reinforcement. Volunteers will need to be available for the 2014 Football Season’s Spring Interest Meeting on Monday, May 12 th with a deadline of Friday, May 16th to have the Volunteer Registration process completed before the first day of practice on Monday, May 19th.
