Grow your career with meaning by growing the skills of youth.

You can help youth succeed in school by showing them they can do math. Every year, Minnesota Math Corps trains tutors to directly impact hundreds of 4 th - 8 th graders in schools across Minnesota. As a tutor, you will implement research-based methods to help students believe in themselves and succeed--all while building new skills and growing your professional network.

All Math Enrichment Tutors serve 11 months as AmeriCorps members and are assigned to one school (elementary, middle or junior high school). Math Corps will provide you with extensive training, support and a curriculum that has seen real results for struggling students. You will conduct tutoring sessions during school hours with pairs of students outside the classroom. You will monitor your students’ progress and work with a coach to ensure they get on track to math proficiency by the end of eighth grade.

In exchange for your service, you will receive a modest living stipend (about $526 every two weeks for full-time and about $263 every two weeks for part-time), an education award of up to $5,645 to help further your own education, and other benefits if eligible. Most tutors begin on the first day of the program year, August 10, 2014. Strong preference is given to applicants who can begin on time. Limited make up trainings will be available to late start tutors.
