The original Extreme Makeover - Home Addition; Habitat is a worldwide ecumenical Christian housing ministry that utilizes volunteer labor and donations to build and rehabilitate housing in partnership with the community. Homes are purchased by limited income families who provide sweat equity and pay back an interest free mortgage equal to 100% of the cost of the home. DuPage Habitat was founded in 1995 and is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.

The Communications & Marketing intern will work under the direction of the Director of Development and in close coordination with the Events & Marketing Manager. The person with be an integral part of the DHFH team in conveying our message to those who we currently partner with and increasing awareness within our service area. This will be achieved through a variety of methods not limited to print and electronic media, radio and television, and social media. Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Main Responsibilities include:

0B7 Provide administrative assistance to the Development and Volunteer/Outreach Departments
0B7 Send personal thank you cards to event participants and major donors
0B7 Assist at press events
0B7 Organize and maintain multiple databases of donors and media contacts
0B7 Keep records of all media coverage
0B7 Write blog stories and drafts for press releases
0B7 Assist in sending out press releases to all media contacts under supervision of Director of Development
0B7 Draft social media posts (Facebook and Twitter)
0B7 Assist in designing marketing material
0B7 Coordinate production of all materials

Assist in planning annual special events:
o Golf Outing
o Gingerbread House Show and Competition
o Women’s Build
o Veteran Build
o National Service Days (9/11 and MLK Day)
Qualifications:
0B7 Must be a college student or have graduated from a 4-year university majoring in marketing, communications, event
planning, fundraising, journalism, non-profit management or similar major
0B7 Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends
0B7 Prior internship or coursework in the field of marketing, PR, or journalism a plus
0B7 Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
0B7 Must have excellent organizational skills
0B7 Must stay positive in a fast-paced high environment

The Intern should be able to work at least 8-10 hours per week in the office
