The ECC’s Employment Service Interns guide immigrant students and clients to the next step towards self-sufficiency-- employment. Interns work with an individual or small group and assist with creating resumes, submitting job applications, conducting mock interviews, and tutoring in occupational, conversational English.

Mission Statement

Established in November 1980, the Ethiopian Community Center's mission has been to meet the needs of immigrants and refugees from Ethiopia and other countries through a wide range of services and supports designed to empower families and individuals to become self-sufficient, contributing members of society.

Description

The ECC achieves its mission by providing a range of services including English as a Second Language (ESL), computer and Amharic language classes as well as summer camps, youth programs, immigration and DC medical assistance application preparation, and professional and personal guidance. Further, the ECC collaborates with various organizations to provide educational and cultural activities as well as employment and health workshops and referrals.
